As the new season is upon us comes exciting new additions to MapIT. We would like to welcome four new members to the MapIT team:
 Carey Dodd, our recently appointed Marketing Manager. Carey joined the company two months ago and comes with a wealth of international marketing experience, having lived in the UK for the past 10 years. Carey has specialised in Digital Marketing and will be taking MapIT to the next level in online marketing.
 Charlotte Nel, recently appointed Office Manager started with the company a month ago and has extensive experience dealing with all types of organisations. Charlotte will ensure our offices run smoothly.
 One of our most recent joiners Byron Moorgas, MapIT’s New Media Manager. Byron has been working in the mobile and web industry for over 10 years and has extensive knowledge with data and mapping technologies. Byron will be driving MapIT's web and mobile solutions into the next generation. MapIT's most recently appointed Software Developer, Meyer Stiglingh, is a young dynamic techy who brings to the team fresh new ideas. Meyer enjoys finding solutions to challenges and will help MapIT in discovering new solutions.

| Address Validation |

 The latest addition to our product offering is the Address Validation Tool. We launched the tool into the market two months ago and have already had huge interest, it was built to help our customers spatially enable their address databases and to counter market perceptions that it is a costly and time-consuming process to assign GPS coordinates to address data.
The address validation tool simplifies the whole process as it systematically guides you through a step-by-step process of capturing province, town, suburb and street data. The result is an accurate, well-structured address with spot on GPS coordinates. MapIT's Etienne Louw is presenting at this years AfricaGEO Conference.
From 31 May to 2 June 2011, the Conference of Southern African Surveyors (CONSAS) hosted AfricaGEO at the Cape Town International Convention Center (CTICC). The event facilitated interaction, discussion and collaboration amongst industry professionals. On the final day of the conference, Etienne will present his paper titled ‘How Accurate, Current, Enriched Data is Needed to Fuel the New Interest in LBS Applications Across Africa’ at the speaker session ‘Mapping, cartography & visualisation’...

| 5th SA Aids Conference 7-10 June |
 MapIT will be joining their partners FPD at this years conference to promote the Compass Project, MapIT sponsored an interactive web map which uses an address to locate HIV/AIDS testing facilities in South Africa. The conference is a fantastic place to have the complex discussions that such studies raise: Who gets prevention? How should we package it? Who pays? What effects can we predict? Why does it work? The interactive map will help with such decisions by displaying the geographic prevalence of HIV/AIDS and the national resources needed to support affected communities...

| Two Oceans Marathon |
 The map is sponsored annually by MapIT and displays the 56km ultra and 21km half marathon against an overlay of the route onto a detailed street map of Cape Town and surroundings. The map allowed users to access relevant information to assist with pre-race planning or calculate the best route to avoid road closures... |
